Beauty Boxes: We love the idea, but which one is for you?

If you are even remotely attracted to the idea of getting goodies delivered to your front door (c'mon, you know you are), then you have most likely considerd one of the many custom beauty boxes that are currently on the market. The idea isn't entirely new; it peaked a few years ago, then waned, then peaked again, but this time (unlike the last), there are currently about 15-20 different options available; as if (eye roll) we need MORE choices to confuse us? Ugh. But alas, these are difficult times so with everyone quarantined and ordering things to be delivered, it seems that beauty boxes were wayyyyy ahead of the curve here. Now is the best time ever to order one! This, my friends, is why I love my job. I don't just order these fabulous packages to be frivoulous or because I have unlimited income ( I do NOT), but because it's literally research on behalf of all of you, so (sigh), I guess I will just have to take one for the team! (You're welcome). So far, I've ordered several boxes and oh, how it feels like Christmas each time one arrives! Beauty boxes are NOT overrated, and I highly highly recommend that everyone try at least one! The variety of items that arrive via a beautifully boxed package will make you feel as if your Fairy God Mother really does exist! What I love about this box:

You fill out a "profile" so that they can narrow down the things you want and like using a rating-type survey with stars to narrow down the level of importance to you for each item they show you; i.e., if you prefer a skin care item vs a cosmetic or whether you prefer a towel over a piece of jewelry etc. They go even further by narrowing down potential makeup and skin care choices based your skin type and hair color, color palette choices etc. I love that they send a variety of items that are actually individually tailored to each customer, and that include a variety of items and not just beauty or skin care alone. For instance, I once received a package that had a scarf, a beach roundie, skin care and cosmetics as well as a piece of jewelry. The box contains $200 worth of items for $49.95 a box and is shipped 4x a year.

Allure Beaty Box: ( beautybox.allure.com ) From the beautiful minds of Allure magazine comes a box of skin care and cosmetics from one of the leading publications for women's beauty and skin care. Put it this way, if Allure lists a product in it's magazine, you can bet it's a great product that will be gangbusters. I trust them. The name alone sold me.

What I love about this box:

The box is put together by the beauty editors at Allure who #notsorry are Goddesses in my eyes. The box is much smaller than some, but it feels like the right amount of product. The box is only $15 (a $70 value) and you get 5 items, 2 of which are full-sized. I love that they are sending you some of the editors choices which are usually the most popular items on the market. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that when I first signed up, I was going to be getting a free gift of a Laura Mercier translucent powder! Yummy!

This box is a perfect fit for those on a budget and when it arrives at your door each month, because of it's low price, you certainly won't have "buyers remorse."

BOXYCHARM: (boxycharm.com) Featuring brands like Benefit, Hourglass, Tarte, GlamGlow, Nars, itcosmetics, and many more. With names like that, this box aims to please.

What I love about this box:

A smaller box as well, it contains 5 items much like the Allure box, however these 5 items are all full-sized and the box is $25 a month. The big bonus here is what I like to call the "signing bonus." When you sign up you can choose a bonus gift of either a gorgeous eyeshadow pallette, or an intensive eye care cream. I love the idea that you are getting 5 full-sized popular makeup counter brands for only $25. You and I both know there is NO WAY you are getting out of Ulta, Macy's or Nordstrom with 5 upscale brands for under $100 unless you steal them. I am not kdding here. (Please don't steal). I LOVE this box!

These beauty boxes are now part of my (new) normal existence and getting them delivered to my front door either every month or once every few months (depending on which subscription) makes me jump for joy and start doing the "Kiki" dance every single time! We work hard, we deserve to treat ourselves and ladies, though I realize my neighbors think I am a complete loon, I am quite sure if they knew what was in these boxes, they would do the very same thing. Treat yourself my loves. After all, you are worth it!
